The New RP developement

For this first post im just gonna tell ya what to expect.

Ill update this once or twice a day if I can with 2 categories:
- Server and Plugin development
- RP development

So far I haven't started even working on the server or plugins.
As for RP, Im figuring it all out while I wait for a bukkit release.
Also, this Hierarchy and Skill classes im making is gonna be a hella lot of code O_o

This is what I've thought up so far. Almost everything is subject to change, feedback is appreciated!

There will be 3 worlds plus a Nether:

-Nomad World
~New players will start in this world.
~There will be no rules.
~The spawn will be a protected PVP free area.
~There will be portals to go to the Blue, Red, and Nether World.
~Non-Nomads will not be restricted by their classes, miners can cut trees, etc.

-Blue World
~Blues may live here.

~Blues are restricted to their classes, and can only build on owned property.

-Red World
~Reds may live here.

-Nomad
~You will be a Nomad upon entering the server for the first time.
~They can do whatever they want to do in the Nomad world and the Nether.
~They cannot go into Empire worlds.
~Can become a Peasant with a mod's approval.

-Peasant
~Joins an empire.
~Can live in the respective empire of its color.
~Can do anything a Nomad can do.
~Can become a Worker by choosing a Class.

-Worker
~Can do anything a Peasant can do.
~Can earn iconomy money from performing their class's job in their respective empire world.
~Gets abilities depending on what Class they choose.
~Can become a Citizen by buying property in their empire world.

-Citizen
~Can do anything a Worker can do.
~Can use chest protection.
~Owns property, and can purchase more property.
~Can build on owned property.
~Can create a shop.
~Can become a Noble by buying a Manor.

-Noble
~Can do anything a Citizen can do.
~Can use /warp.
~Can become a Lord by upgrading a Manor to a town/city.

-Lord
~Can do anything a Noble can do.
~Can make their town/city larger.
~Can tax and make town specific rules to follow.

-King (mods)
~Cannot be obtained in-game.
~Moderate their respective empire.
~Can ban, change weather, and change time.

-Emperor (admins)
~Cannot be obtained in-game.
~Does everythign a King does.
~Leads an empire.
~Has say over Kings.

Since I didn't get any updates out this weekend I thought Id give you a 3 in 1 update! Enjoy Razz

|Nametags|

The name tags define what empire a person belongs to, where someone is on the hierarchy scale, and their class.

-Empire
~The color of a persons name will be either red, blue, or grey depending on their empire affiliation.
=blue = member of Blue Empire.
=red = member of Red Empire.
=grey = Nomad.

-Hierarchy Scale
~The level on the hierarchy scale will be spelled out inbetween brackets preceding the name of the player.
~The level will be the color of the corresponding empire as well.

-Class
~The brackets around a person's hierarchy level will have a color corresponding to their specific class.
~People who do not have a class will have brackets matching their empire color, but a lighter shade.

Together all of these will look something like this:

Bob, a Nomad = [Nomad] Bob
Fred, a Blue Empire Worker Farmer = [Worker] Fred
Jack, a Red Empire Peasant = [Peasant] Jack
(the brackets will be more reddish than pink ;P)

|Donations|

Perks are cumulative, you get all the lesser perks when receiving higher perks.

$1 = Green [$] Tag preceding Empire Tag.
$5 = /nick lets you change your name.
$10 = /back brings you to a location you just teleported from, or returning to where you died last.
$15 = /mc (3,5,7) MagicCarpet.
$20 = An extra mcMMO skill.
Every +$10 after $20 ($30, $40, $50...) = Another extra mcMMO skill.

|Classes|

-Miner
~Gets mining mcMMO skill.
~Earns Iconomy credits by mining stone and coal.
~Turquoise brackets.
-Farmer
~Gets herbalism mcMMO skill.
~Gets repair mcMMO skill.
~Earns Iconomy credits by planting wheat, cacti, and sugarcane.
~Gold brackets.
-Lumberjack
~Gets woodcutting mcMMO skill.
~Earns Iconomy credits by chopping wood.
~Light Green Brackets.
-Soldier
~Gets sword mcMMO skill.
~Gets axe mcMMO skill.
~Black Brackets.
~Earns Iconomy credits by killing enemy players and hostile mobs.
-Archer
~Gets archery mcMMO skill.
~Earns Iconomy credits by killing enemy players and hostile mobs.
~Purple Brackets
-Digger
~Gets excavation mcMMO skill.
~Earns Iconomy credits by digging sand, gravel, clay, and dirt.
~White brackets.

Players are restricted to their classes when in their respective empire world.
:: A miner can mine in their empire's world and the nomad world, but can only chop wood when in the Nomad world or Nether.

Players can earn mcMMO skill in any of the 4 worlds.

Players will receive Iconomy payment for doing their specified class's job.
*Players will not earn Iconomy payment for extra mcMMO skills purchased in-game with Iconomy credits, such as acrobatics.
*Donators will not earn Iconomy payment for extra mcMMO skills.

If you wish to switch your class you must completely restart your journey.
:: Your inventory, property, skills, balance, YOUR EVERYTHING, will be reset.
*Donators will still have their perks regardless.

Restrictions do not apply on owned property.
:: A miner can chop wood on his property.

Ok so bukkit FINALLY came out with a dev build for 1.6.6!

I still dont want to try starting anything until they release a stable recommended build.

Feel free to hop on if you want! Due to it being a dev build there may be odd bugs tho...

Still need to reconfigure a few, but for now everyone's groups and etc are like they were on the server before

New Plugins!!! Very Happy

Residence - I nearly cried when i found this because it does everything property related with iconomy and... (This is the best part) U DONT NEED MODS TO SET UP UR AREAS! You just do a command to buy more land :DDD Also has stuff to make sure u dont overlap with people also :DDD T_T <--- tears of joy

NaturalGiants - Need I explain? Should be kinda fun to have Smile

iConomy(Needs an update to 818 still) - You should probably know what this does already...

iConomyChestShop - Self explanatory (Might replace this with a different, better one later: NPCTrader)

MultiVerse - Multiple worlds

Stargate - Gate based warps

None of these have been configured yet

More New Plugins!

HeroBounty - Lets you put bounties on players!

BuyAbilities - Lets you buy stuff like acrobatics, etc.

LockChest(replaces LWC!) - Chest locking and thievery ability.

*Side note:

I just deleted 10 pages of posts, and it was awful cuz i had to do them one at a time. From now on, any non-productive posts will be deleted as soon as I see them.

Any Comments/ Suggestions To This Post Should Be Posted On The Announcements/Updates Post Named: COMMENTS ON THE NEW RP PROGRESS

This Is Too Keep All of The Un-Needed Comments Out Of This Thread So It Is Easy To Find News About The Incoming RP Server Without Having To Search For The Posts In a Swarm Of Complaints/Comments That Arent't Even About The RP's Progress.

Configging Configging Configging...

So I've reviewed all the plugins and updated a few small ones here or there.

I also fixed 3 bugs with portals and the /lastseen command.

About half of the plugins are fine configured as is, but here is a list of plugins that still need configging:

i had a idea for us to make a musuem at the spawn recording battles and wars and skirmishes and peoples great achievements first people to a 1,000 mcmmo score richest people most profiting shop the item bought the most and other important things like when the world started first block placed in the world and yeh that kinda stuff

In case you were wondering...

Residences is the next plugin on my list... Its gonna be one hell of a config... Ive already started, but I have yet to do the brutal part.

Know this: the more a plugin takes to be configged, the more specific you can make it. This is one of the plugins that is a core plugin of the server, basically its what makes all the RP work.

To give you an idea of what this plugin entails (YES, ONLY THIS PLUGIN)...

There are technically 65 individual groups
2 Emperor groups
12 King groups
12 Lord groups
12 Noble groups
12 Citizen groups
12 Worker groups
2 Peasant groups
1 Nomad group

For each of these groups, I have to manually configure what is basically a list of can and cant do's. They look like this:


Code:
ItemList: #this is where you can create blacklists / whitelists
    BLumberjack: #list name is not important, as long as it is unique. Its good to use a descripive name.
        #type of the list, can be blacklist or whitelist
        Type: whitelist
        #If you want, you can have this list only apply to one world, otherwise it applys to all worlds
        World: world_blue
        #You can also have the list apply only to one group, otherwise it applys for all groups
        Group: BLumberjack
        #this is the actual list of material names that this list allows or dissallows
        #You can look up the material name by item ID in game by typing /res material <id>
        #Alternativly, you can simply use the item ID in the list, but its less descriptive and harder to see what the list allows or dissallows at a glance
        Items:
          - 'LOG'
          - 'LEAVES'
          - 'SAPLING'
          #etc. etc. every block each group is only allowed to do

yep 65 of those, but not only that, but since there are 4 worlds, 2 of which are the same, means I have to do all of those... 3 times, and each will be different!

That means Im making 195 unique lists!

If you were keeping track, you counted about 5 things to fill out in that config.
Now since one of those 5 happen to have lots of things in em lets say an average of 6, that means approximately 11 things to fill out per list!

That means 2145 (Give or take 50) individual things to add as an input!

Oh yeah, did i mention that was only the last part of the configuring...

Thats one plugin my friends, one plugin.

Wanna know the next best part? I have to do the same thing with GroupManager Very Happy! Copy and paste you say? LOL GroupManager has about 1.4x the necessary configuring as Residences and there configurations arent compatible via copy-paste! In fact, residences is only one permission on the list of permissions each group has (remember there is a list for each of 195, yep same amount)!

You following this camera guy?!?!?!

So lets throw on 105 for the beginnning config for Residences making it 2250!
Now GroupManager is the same but there are alot of permissions for each group, an average of 15 Id say, making GroupManager a whopping 2925 (give or take 75) things to input!

Lets add those mofo's up! Still keeping count? Its 5175 (give or take 100) in case you havent!

Now thats only 2 PLUGINS!!! My fingers are getting tired from typing today, so Ill leave it there. Food for thought.

So next time you think "Ugh he only has liek 7 plugins left! Why doesnt he hurry up??" Remember this post and think about having to do it...

This isnt a real update really, but I just want you guys to know that ive been congfigging Residences and Groupmanager all day! Residences is seemingly done but I still need to test it and groupmanger is underway as we speak

Im gonna actually let you guys onto the RP soon but only in the nomad world.
I need to make sure everything works and fix things here or there but...

WE ARE ALMOST THERE FOLKS! Very Happy

Server Development #5.4

Configged:
-Did small touch-ups on LOTS of plugins! (BuyAbilities,mcMMO,NaturalGiants,Essentials, etc...)
-Finished RESIDENCES! (Maybe? Have yet to actually test it Rolling Eyes )
-Finalized template for GroupManager and finished configging it for nomad and nether worlds!

Still need to config:
-GroupManager (In progress)
-Help
-HeroChat
-MultiVerse
-Stargate
-Tuto (This'll be done last)

Deciding on:
-A NPC plugin, found lots of candidates but not sure which to pick
-Other nice add-ons for the server but not necessary, might add them after everything else.

*NEWS*
The Nomad and Nether worlds are just about ready!
I will be able to open them up to everyone soon! (Tomorrow?!?!)

When opening it up the spawn will probably still not be finished, but you CAN start getting supplies and etc. and even make a temporary campout!

Only the people who have already been helping will be able to continue to work on the spawn although others may suggest ideas and offer supplies!

Keep in mind tho, the server is still in-dev so I may restart and whatnot so just be warned!

Everyone can now go onto the Nomad and Nether worlds!

However only certain people will be able to build in the spawn area, but you are free to collect supplies and build anything wherever while you wait for the Empire worlds to be finished!

And for the time I will be moderating griefing on only large scale issues, ie: If someone breaks into ur house I wont do anything about it. If someone ENTIRELY DESTROYS your house leaving only a crater of where tnt went off, Ill have a talk with them ;P

Remember to use port :25565 !

And for the time I will be moderating griefing on only large scale issues, ie: If someone breaks into ur house I wont do anything about it. If someone ENTIRELY DESTROYS your house leaving only a crater of where tnt went off, Ill have a talk with them ;P

Can I help with the Empire worlds cause I havent really been involved in helping with the spawn but I did build an awesome Green Nation capital and ect. so I would like to help with an Empire world.
